“The Eye of The Prophet” – Kahlil Gibran

I saw man conceal his cowardice beneath the mantle of patience, call laziness tolerance, and fear, courtesy.

And I saw a young man trying to seduce the heart of a young girl with tender words, while the true feelings of both were half asleep and they were far from their divine nature.

Why do you leave your wife and children and follow death as far as that distant country on behalf of those who buy their glory with your blood and their honour with the tears of your mother.

For he who embraces death with the sword of truth in his hand will live for ever in eternity and truth.

Understanding forms the only set of riches which tyrants cannot take away from you.

Reason and understanding are not like the merchandise sold in the market, whose value goes down with abundance; quite the contrary, the more abundant they are, the more their value increases.

O people of the noisy city, you who live in darkness, you whose sky is artificial, your towns are colossal cages for which men began to forge the bars many years ago, without realising they were building them from the inside, and that soon they would be their own prisoners for eternity.

Tomorrow is conceived in the womb of yesterday.

Man will be on the path to perfection when his being becomes a universe without bounds, and a sea without shores.

Beauty is not in the face.

It is a light in the heart.
